John W. Bohacik, age 82 of Tinley Park, IL passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia A. (nee Schoenecker) Bohacik; daughters, Mary Beth R. (Michael) Murphy and Sherri Anne C. Bohacik; grandchildren, Kelli R. (Austin) Spearson, Ryan P. Murphy and Haley C. (fiancé Richard Willett) Murphy; great granddaughter, Briar Rose Spearson; sisters-in-law, Marylynn Bohacik and Linda Morton; many loving nieces and nephews.; and lifelong loyal friends since 1966, Doug Swan, Duane Boyle and Lenny Colen. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Bohacik; and siblings, Freda (Richard) Fleming, Richard Bohacik, Stephen Bohacik and Robert Bohacik.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025 DIRECTLY at St. George Church 6707 175th St. Tinley Park, IL with a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial offered by Reverend Paul Seaman. Interment will be at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Elwood, IL. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at KISH FUNERAL HOME 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Interment with Military Honors is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 28, 2025 at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Elwood, IL.
John was born in East Chicago, Indiana and graduated from East Chicago Washington High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army before being honorably discharged. Following his service, he dedicated 46 years to Brinks. A devoted Cubs fan, John loved fishing with his brothers, grandchildren and friends and enjoyed cheering on the Bears. He also shared his love of basketball by coaching at St. Thomas More in Munster, Indiana. Above all, John’s greatest joy was spending Saturdays with his beloved great-granddaughter, Briar.
