Joseph met his beloved wife, Glenda, at St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana, where their bond grew strong. Together, they built a family filled with warmth and kindness. Wherever there was Glenda, Joseph was near, and together they became known as “The Botons,” a symbol of their unbreakable bond and shared devotion. Even after Glenda’s passing in 2019, her love remained a guiding presence in his life.
Joseph was a lifelong learner who earned his Master’s degree in Theology, Education and Psychology, a testament to his passion for understanding others and helping them grow.
Following his academic career, Joseph went on to serve as the Director of Public Relations for St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. His leadership and dedication played a crucial role in fostering the hospital’s community outreach and communication efforts, leaving a lasting impact on the hospital and the people it served.
Joseph will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering resilience, and quiet strength. He carried himself with grace through life’s challenges, always putting others before himself and offering steady support to those in need. He lived by the words he often shared: “It is within serving we are giving.” This belief defined his life, as he dedicated himself to helping others with compassion and selflessness.
Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Glenda, and his cherished brother- and sister-in-laws, Sonja and Lowell Baber, and Amy and Garynerd Hardebeck. He is survived by his daughter, Jordana Boton and his grandson, Luca, who brought him endless pride and joy. He also leaves behind his dear sisters-in- law, Maritta Rogers-Purcell and Pat Roger’s- Eckely (Gray), and brother in-law Paul Rogers, as well as his nephew, Kameron Purcell (Jess).
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. His legacy of love, kindness, and quiet strength will live on in those he leaves behind.
May his memory be a blessing, and may he be reunited in peace with Glenda and his loved ones who have gone before him.
