Judith “Judy” A. (nee Schultz) Grambo, age 80, of Schererville, IN, died on Wednesday, November 16, 2016. She was born on November 4, 1936 in Hammond, IN. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Elsie Schultz of Lansing, IL. She is survived by her daughters, Diane and Sharon Grambo; sister, Gretchen (Bob) Taylor; nephews, Kevin (Jodi), Brian (Kendra) and Michael (Gina) Taylor; great nieces, Erika and Katie; great nephews, Josh and Zak; and her wonderful friends, who were like extended family. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN, with Rev. Dr. John Richy, officiating. Visitation will be held, on Monday, at the funeral home, from 10:00 a.m. until the 12:00 p.m. service. Interment will be private at Skyline Memorial Park Monee, IL. Judy graduated from TF North in Calumet City, IL. She went to work for Smith Motors in Hammond, IN in 1954. In 1956, she joined Foote, Cone & Belding in Chicago, IL. Judy made a name for herself, starting as a secretary and then, retiring after 37 years as President of WJOB radio and WZVN Radio. She was the youngest female station manager in the country. Judy gained national recognition in 1975 when she refused to air Public Service Announcements for the Jaycees, for “anachronistic attitude of authority” in banning women from membership. Judy received an award from the Indiana Broadcasters association in 1984 and was instrumental in bringing cable television to the Calumet Area. Judy was honored by East Chicago Mayor Robert Pastrick and Hammond Mayor Thomas McDermott, Sr., recognizing her 25 years of service to the community. She was on the Board of The United Fund, and its successor The Lake Area United Way. Judy was a member of the PEO Women-Chapter CJ, Briar Ridge Country Club, Community Hospital auxiliary, Friends of the Theatre and ACBW. She loved to golf, travel, play bridge, attend theatre, see movies and seek new adventures. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Judy’s name to St. John’s Lutheran Church 18100 Wentworth Ave. Lansing, IL 60438.
