Katherine Sakelaris, 94 of Highland, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023. She is survived by her son James (Kris Costa) Sakelaris; daughter Mary (Chris) Ioannides; granddaughters Bernadette Katherine (B.K.) Sakelaris and Eleftheria Donna Ioannides; sister-in-law Nikki Sakelaris; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband Angelo Sakelaris and sister Pagona Lainas. Visitation will be on Thursday September 7, 2023 from 4:00-8:00 pm with a prayer service at 6:00 pm at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave, Munster, IN. Funeral service will be held Friday, September 8, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 7021 Hohman Ave, Hammond, IN with Fr. David Bissias officiating. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Katherine was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church and member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society. She retired from Omni 41 Health Club. She was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and all that knew her. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Haven House in Hammond, IN or Hellenic College and Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology Brookline, MA in her memory would be appreciated.
