Kenneth R. Foster Jr., 56, of Schererville, IN passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017 after an extended illness surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary (nee O‚ÄôBrien); son, Ryan; daughter, Catherine; parents, Kenneth (Aurelia) Foster Sr. and Helen (Robert) Fitzgibbon; sisters, Janet (Kevin) McGrath and Joanna (Dr. Jerry) Holmes; father-in-law and Mother-in-law, William and Dorothy O‚ÄôBrien; brothers-in-law, William (Barbara) O‚ÄôBrien, Daniel (Christine) O‚ÄôBrien and Timothy (Dina) O‚ÄôBrien; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ken was employed at SKF USA, Inc. He was an active member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Schererville, IN. Ken was a 1978 graduate of Thornwood High School and a 1982 graduate of Purdue University School of Engineering. He was an avid sports enthusiast and was accomplished at woodworking. He made furniture and remodeled his home. He loved spending time with his family and attending the activities of his children, nieces and nephews. Ken will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the family for his children‚Äôs education would be appreciated. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 3:00-8:00 pm at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Schererville, IN. Interment will be at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN.

Mary, Ryan, Catherine and Family. I was truly saddened to hear of the passing of Ken. My deepest sympathy to you all. I worked with Ken for over 15 years at SKF. Ken was a very kind and compassionate person. He was a very hard worker and a dedicated person to both SKF and to his family. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was very witty. Death brings a loss that no one can heal. Love leaves a memory that no one can steal. Ken was a wonderful person and a great co-worker.

Dear Mary and family. I am saddened to hear of Ken‚Äôs passing. My sincere condolences and prayers of comfort to you. I had the pleasure of working with Ken throughout his SKF career up to the time of my retirement a year and a half ago. Ken and I collaborated together on my last significant project in Hawesville KY. Whether we were up to our elbows in grease inspecting slewing bearings, or touring the winery while visiting SKF Schweinfurt, we always got the job done, shared laughs, and learned from each other, making each of us better at our jobs and making us better people.

I remember when my husband said that a girl he worked with (Janet Foster) was hoping that her brother would find a nice girl to date. Immediately we thought of Mary Pat. Pictures and phone numbers were exchanged and the rest was history. Ken and Mary Pat were a match made in heaven. We also remember how playful Ken was with children. We can remember Ken tossing our son and daughter high into the air and catching them....most of the time. Ken was a great man!

Ken was kindest and cheerful person I have known. He was always willing to help me at SKF throughout my career, which has had and will continue to have a positive impact on me. Ken will be missed but definetely not forgotten.

Ken was one of the kindest and most thoughtful men I have ever come across. Not only did he care so deeply about his family but Ken approached everything that way. He was extremely kind and thoughtful to me personally and that's something I will never forget.

Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
