Mr. Gilbert and family, After hearing this news, I can't help but postulate on how something like this could happen to such amazing people. While there are no words to express your deep and unimaginable loss, I want to share a few thoughts about my own childhood and how Mr. Gilbert helped shape my tomorrows. As my 8th grade social studies teacher, he made me understand that history isn't just in the past, it's alive right now. It's in our everyday lives. It's behind us, around us and in front of us. We have to believe that there is a bigger meaning to every occurrence- we can't just perceive and conceive the present, we need to do our best to foresee the future and that everything comes around. None of this can ever make sense when dealing with the loss of a loved one, but I hope my words can console if even for a moment. Kyle will always be fondly remembered and you truly have my deepest sympathies.
