Lauren A. Calvillo, age 16, of Hammond, IN, was taken in a senseless act of violence on the front porch of her home, while saving the lives of several children. She was preceded in death by her Mam Maw and Pap Paw Hubbard, and her Grandpa Cruz Calvillo. She is survived by her mother (who is trying to survive), Ollie Hubbard and Daddy’s Princess, Jose Calvillo, lifelong guardian angel, to her baby brother, Joseph Calvillo; loving and nourishing grandmother, Socorro Calvillo; and many special aunts , uncles, cousins, neighbors and friends. Lauren’s love for others was incredible. Her heart was made of gold, and her big beautiful eyes would light up the darkest rooms. Lauren’s passion and concern for others was her calling in this world. She was born to show this world how to give and share love, dying a true heroine. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 7, 2015 beginning with 8:45 a.m. prayers at Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN with a 10:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at All Saints Catholic Church 570 Sibley St. Hammond, IN, with Reverend William O’Toole, officiating. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery Hammond, IN. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 6, 2015 at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In honor of Lauren, a “Stop The Violence For Lauren’s Children” funeral procession from Kish Funeral Home to All Saints Catholic Church, is encouraging everyone that would like to join with the family to “Stop the Violence.” They welcome all to make awareness with handmade posters and raise flags high, to show that this City will take a stand against violence and protect each other. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lauren’s name to her family, for unfortunate, unexpected and senseless expenses.
