LaVerne (Gunty-Ritter) Crilly, 89 of Normal, IL. formerly of Dolton and Manteno, IL died Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Evergreen Village, Normal, IL. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. and on Wednesday, from 9:30-10:00 am at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas More Church, 8501 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Intermnet will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Evergreen Park, IL. Memorial can be made to Advocate Bromenn Hospice, Bloomington, IL. LaVerne was born September 18, 1929 in Chicago, IL to Edward and Agnes (Kohs) Gunty. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jack Ritter and Joseph Crilly and daughter, Deborah Crilly. She is survived by her children, Richard (Gerry) Ritter, James (Cheryl) Crilly and Joan (Joe) Reuter, Maureen (Glenn) Yaeger and Patricia (Rick) Penn; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. LaVerne was one of 11 children; nine deceased and one surviving sister. She retired from Marshall Fields and Company at River Oaks. She was also active in her former parishes, St. Jude the Apostle, South Holland, IL and St. Joseph Church in Manteno, IL. She loved to travel, shopping, casinos and dining out.

Growing up in Dolton, Mrs. Crilly was a rock. She raised 6 children, worked and managed her household. If I remember correctly, she call us '"you girls" as we were always pushing the limits and acting goofy. Always taking it in stride. She will be missed by all that touched her.
