Lawrence Cundary, age 78, of St. John, IN, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Lynda (nee Forgue) Cundary. He was a unique and devoted father Dana (Bryan) Ruthrauff, Gina Davitt (Brian Eskra), Lawrence Jr. (Rebecca) Cundary. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Salvatore and Virginia Cundary. He is survived by his brother, Salvatore (Arleen) Cundary and sister, Marge (Jim) Shasteen; favored brother-in-law (aka The General) of Mark (Melinda) Forgue, Ron (Yashi) Forgue and Bob (Deb) Forgue

Lawrence was a cherished grandfather to Danielle (Steve) Sneary, Cody (Morgan) Davitt, Austin Ruthrauff, Alayna (Anthony) Wells, Taylor (Lavor) Little, Justin Ruthrauff (fiancé Peyton Buikema) and Teagan Cundary (Jake). Great grandfather of Jack, Cooper, Ja’Niyah, Jamari, Quinn, Cameron, Tatum, Carter, Chloe, Rhett, Lucas and Ethan

He will be remembered for his generosity, sense of humor, and unwavering commitment to his family and his many friends. His legacy of kindness and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Lawrence was employed with the IHB RR for over 44 years. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan for his entire life. He loved horse racing, craps, football pools, and basically anything you can bet on!!! He will be greatly missed and loved forever.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with Funeral Services at 6:30 p.m. Interment will be private.
