Larry Sulzbacher, 87, of Munster, Indiana, passed away May 2 at the William J. Riley Memorial Residence in Munster. Larry was born October 18, 1926, in Chicago to Seymour and Rachael Hilda (nee Husband) Sulzbacher. He graduated from South Shore High School in 1944 and then from Woodrow Wilson Junior College in 1948. He received his JD degree from DePaul University in 1951 and was admitted to the Illinois Bar. That same year, he married the former Margaret Mae Baer. For his entire career as an attorney (1951 – 1985), he was employed at Chicago Title and Trust Company. He was a Navy veteran serving as a medic in WWII, and assigned to the Marine Corps, being privileged to wear both uniforms.
Larry is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marge, and his two daughters Judy (Tim) Meadows of Apple Valley, CA and Susan (Lou) Boers of New Buffalo, MI and Downers Grove, IL. He is the cherished brother of Marilyn Belka, and grandfather to Justin (Jennifer) Dukes and Louis Matthew Boers. He has one great grandchild, Conor Dukes. He was preceded in death by his parents, Seymour and Hilda Sulzbacher. Larry lived most of his adult life in Chicago Heights, relocating to Hartsfield Village in Munster a few years ago. He loved the Cubs, fishing the Great Lakes, and an occasional game of golf. He enjoyed reading, travel, and his family, above all.
Visitation at the Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Avenue, Munster, Indiana on Monday May 5, 2014 from 2:00 – 8:00 pm. Additional viewing will be at 10:00 am at Our Saviour Lutheran Church 19058 Burnham Ave, Lansing, Illinois on Wednesday May 7, 2014. A celebration of life service will be held on that same day at 11:00 am at Our Saviour with Pastor Sue Devermann officiating. Cremation of remains will follow. Memorial donations may be made to either Our Saviour Lutheran Church or to the Hospice of the Calumet Area in Munster.
