Leonard L. Dworniczek, 69, of St. John, IN passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Saturday, January 6, 2018. He is survived by his devoted wife and soul mate of 47 years, Patricia (“Dudy”); daughter, Kelly (Frank Baldassare) Dworniczek; beloved, smart and sassy granddaughter, Nola Belle Baldassare; “little” brother, Daniel (Dawn) Dworniczek; adored progenies, Kathy (Bob) Jurgeto, Thomas (Lisa) Kawalec and Phillip (Beth) Bradtke; and lifelong and supremely devoted friend, Peter (Karen) Martich. Always sunny in disposition and optimism, when asked how he was, Lenny would always respond, “I cannot complain – it wouldn’t do me any good.” He was perhaps best known as the original inventor of the man cave, as the inspiration for the SNL skit “Superfans,” and for amassing the single largest collection of tools, devices and mechanical oddities ever made. Most recently, he was recognized as the world’s longest suffering, and inexplicably loyal Chicago Bears fan. A master fire starter, hard worker, mechanical tinkerer, novice pilot of remote flying devices and master crasher of remote flying devices. He loved deeply and truly and had a lasting impression on all who knew him. While gone too soon, he asked that you all recall his trademark smile (and scowl) the laughs you shared, and wanted you all to know that until the end, “I did it my way.” In lieu of flowers, Lenny requested that donations be made in his name to the Fund to Finally Find the Chicago Bears a Legit, Franchise Quarterback. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 12:00-2:00 pm at the church.Leonard was a member of Automotive Mechanics, Local 701 and retired from Operating Engineers, Local 150. He was also parishioner of the St. John Evangelist Church.
