Lloyd Alton Rowe, 84 of Munster, IN passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janice; son, Bruce (Tammy) Rowe; daughter, Diane Rowe; grandchildren, Johnathan, David and Olivia; nephew, Douglas (Paula) Boyce; niece, Sherri (Richard) Cook; preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Caro Rowe; nephew, Richard Boyce. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 1:00-4:00 PM with a funeral service at 4:00 PM at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Lloyd served the IU Northwest campus for 35 years in various roles, including the Assistant Director of the School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA), Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, interim Dean of the School of Education, and interim Chancellor. He was also instrumental in the creation and development of the Shared Ethics Advisory Commission (SEAC) in Northwest Indiana, which trains local public employees in ethics and seeks to create a culture of ethics in government. He served as the Shared Ethics Officer for SEAC. Highly regarded, Lloyd was the recipient of several campus awards, including the inaugural Chancellor’s Distinguished Service Award and the Division of SPEA Teaching Award. He earned his B.A. in government from the University of Maine, M.G.A. in governmental administration from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Ph.D. in political science also from the University of Pennsylvania. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family of Lloyd A.
