Loretta J. (nee Hanusin) Arens, age 93 of Munster, IN passed away April 2, 2022.  Loretta is survived by her 3 children, Timothy (late Suzanne) Arens, Susan (James) Jankus and Anthony (Elana) Arens; brother, Daniel (Martha) Hanusin; adored by her grandchildren, Sean (Stefanie) Jankus, Jay (Erin) Jankus, Jessica Arens (JD), Ashley Arens and Anthony, William and Anna Arens; along with 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Loretta lived in the area all of her life and on November 13, 1948 married the love of her life, the late Austin J. Arens.  Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Mary Hanusin; sisters, Anne Serdel, Marian Schackmuth and Helen Barananowski; and brother, Andrew Hanusin.  Loretta lived for her family and her faith.  She was very blessed to have it all.

Loretta was a diehard Notre Dame fan for over 60 years, attending games when women displayed N.D. corsages and men wore suits.  Loretta was banned to the stadium restroom to inspire a late 4^th quarter comeback by the Irish that resulted in a victory.  This method worked so well Loretta used it at her home later in life to insure a Norte Dame win.  Loretta was a fan to the end and would phone several family members to verify the game day television channel and time.

A Memorial Mass will be held at All Souls Catholic Parish at St. Ann (formerly St. Ann Catholic Church) 3010 Ridge Road Lansing, IL at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2022 with a gathering at the church 30 minutes prior to the Mass.  Interment will be private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Elwood, IL.
