Luz Alcantar de Alcantar, age 80, of Hammond, Indiana, formerly of Santa Teresa, Durango, México, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

Luz was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rafael Alcantar.

She is survived by her four children: Elena, Isabel (Juan), Erik (Lupe), and Edgar.

She is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Lizeth, Eduardo, late Adriana, Juan, Edgar Rafael, Erik, Jr., and Jovanni; her five great-grandchildren: Jahayra, Adrianna, Yareli, Ricardo, Nizah and Rome; as well as her loving brothers, sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Sunday, October 4, 2026 from 3:00-7:00 pm at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Funeral service will be Monday, October 5, 2026 starting at the funeral home at 9:15 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Jesus Shepherd of Souls Church, 768 Lincoln Ave. Calumet City, IL. Interment will be at St. John – St. Joseph Cemetery, Hammond, IN.
