Lynn Carol (nee Dusek) Frangella, 70, of Schererville, IN, passed away surrounded by the love of her family after a life devoted to caring for others. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, kindness, and unconditional love that touched countless lives.
Lynn was born and raised on Avenue M on the East Side of Chicago, a community she always carried close to her heart. While attending high school, she met the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Frangella. Their relationship began as a teenage romance and blossomed into a marriage that lasted nearly five decades after they were wed in 1977.
To those who knew them, their marriage was a love story for the ages. Together they built a home filled with laughter, loyalty, and unwavering support. Their devotion to one another became the foundation upon which their family was built and remained a constant source of strength throughout their lives.
Lynn dedicated her professional life to nursing. She began her career at South Chicago Hospital before becoming a school nurse. She was an old-school nurse in the very best sense—highly skilled, knowledgeable, and deeply respected. Yet, what truly set her apart was her compassion. Whether caring for patients, students, friends, or family members, Lynn always made comfort and kindness her highest priorities. She provided reassurance during life’s most difficult moments and offered care and dignity to countless people in their times of greatest need.
Lynn’s generosity extended far beyond her profession. She instinctively put others first, whether at work, at home, or among friends. She possessed a gift for making everyone feel welcome and included. Her children fondly remember being encouraged to go talk to relatives, greet family friends, or give someone a hug. Lynn believed that no one should ever feel left out, and she made it her mission to ensure everyone in the room felt seen, valued, and loved.
Nothing brought Lynn greater joy than her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Frangella; her son, Nate (Beth) Frangella; their children, Addison and Dominic; daughter, Amy (Andrew) Bona; their sons, Beckett, Benson, and Burke. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she took immense pride in each of them. Whether celebrating their accomplishments, cheering them on, or simply spending time together, being Grandma was one of her greatest blessings.
Lynn is also survived by her sister, Nancy (Jim) Szelag, their children and families. She is further survived by her lifelong best friend, Connie Mikolajczyk, whose friendship was a treasured part of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecilia Dusek and Frank Dusek; her maternal grandparents, Alice Arsenault and Alfred Arsenault; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Arthur and Yvonne Frangella.
