Madelyn M. Scherer, 94, of Dyer, IN passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015. She is survived by her son, Dennis (Paulette) Scherer; daughter, Gloria (Rany) Lang; grandchildren, Dennis (Linda) Scherer, Liane (Michael) Bania, Rebecca (David Jurek) Scherer, Scott (Jennifer) Lang, Phillip (Danielle) Lang and Marc (Courtney) Lang; great grandchildren, Charles Bania, Nathan Scherer, Alexander Scherer, Hannah Scherer, Abigail Scherer, Carolyn Bania, Levi Lang, Finley Lang, Leighton Lang and baby girl Lang; brother, Angelo (late Delores) Puoci; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Scherer; parents, Raphaelle and Santa Maria Puoci; siblings, Frank (Eleanor) Puoci, Florence (Lad) Havlicek and Raymond (Rosette) Puoci. Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from 3:00-9:00 PM with a funeral service at 8:00 PM at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. Madelyn operated a crane at Carnegie Steel during World War II. She worked as an assistant nurse at Chicago Osteopathic Hospital and as a Beautician. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Wives Club and was a Girl Scout Leader. Madelyn enjoyed being a Homemaker and taking care of her family. Her hobbies included crocheting, gardening and ceramics. In lieu of flowers, contributions to a charity of your choice in her memory would be appreciated.
