Margaret Fry (nee Gajos), age 69 of St. John, IN formerly of Oak Lawn, IL passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022.

Margaret was born in Chicago, IL, graduated from Visitation Catholic High School in 1970, a graduate of Fox College.  Margaret was a hard-working woman, known for her dedication, organization, and a good eye for detail.  Margaret was a secretary at GATX, Hawkinson Ford, and Oak Lawn School District #122.  Her hobbies included…vacationing with her family and playing those penny slot machines at the local casinos.  She was most proud of her four children and their accomplishments while overseeing those right “choices” throughout their lives.  Margaret was also proud of her loving husband Joe, for his perseverance and his commitment to his family.  Margaret was a devoted wife and mother to her four children.  She never shied away from singing her favorite songs, even using them as words of encouragement for her daughters and nieces …the lyrics from “big girls don’t cry”, will hold a cherished place in her family’s lives.  The song “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”, will remind us of her favorite movie, The Wizard of Oz. Her presence brought light, cheer, and laughter into every room she entered.  All her children, nieces, and nephews can fondly recall her love for silly practical jokes.

Margaret is survived by her husband of 49 years, Joseph; twin daughters, Julie (Aaron) Rutell and Chrissy (Tom) O’Malley; sons: Joseph and Thomas; brothers: Robert (Sheri) Gajos, Thomas Gajos, Gerald (Diane) Gajos and Edward (Rachel) Gajos.

Margaret was preceded in death by father, Mitchell “Max” and her mother, Alice Gajos  (nee Wozny).

Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at KISH FUNERAL HOME 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until the 12:00 p.m. Funeral Service.  Interment will be private.
