Margaret Ann Panzer Jensen, age 86 of Munster, IN formerly of Calumet City, IL was reunited with her parents in heaven on April 25, 2025. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years JT (Pete) Jensen; her children, Michael (Sally) Jensen, Susan (James) Kaptur, Karen (John) Totos and Steven Jensen; her adoring grandchildren, Brad (Danielle) Kaptur, Morgan Kaptur and Noah Jensen; and fur grandbabies, Bear, Barney, Bogey and Lucky.
Margaret Ann was born on July 25, 1938 to Oskar and Lina Panzer in Calumet City, IL. She attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School (Hammond, IN) and Thornton Fractional High School (Calumet City, IL) before proudly attending Stephens College (Columbia, MO) where she fell in love with her husband Pete who was attending the University of Missouri. They happily returned to Calumet City to begin their marriage and family for two decades before moving to Munster, IN.
If raising four kids wasn’t busy enough, Marge spent her free time managing apartments with her father, leading a Girl Scouts Troop, member of Sigma Kappa Pi Social Sorority Beta Nu Chapter and serving on the Altar Guild at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Her favorite part of Altar Guild was preparing decorations for church weddings, showers, holidays, etc. Her home was a happy place filled with many holiday and flower decorations.
Marge was always living a full and busy life with her friends and family. She was often found around the bunko and bridge tables hustling her friends out of their pennies, creating beautiful ceramics that her family cherishes, and waterskiing with Pete driving the boat in the summer months. She was a proud football coach’s wife and often hosted many lively gatherings for the coaches and their families. Marge’s life was not short of hobbies and though there are many more to list, we’re confident she would want us to mention her love of golf, particularly to tell you about her hole in one.
Marge’s catch phrase of “Been There, Done That!” was shaped by her lifetime of amazing adventures. Marge and Pete went on many trips together and with their friends. Some of her favorites were her Alaskan cruise with Pete and visiting Israel’ s Holy Land with her church group. Her daughter, Sue, and granddaughter, Morgan, will forever cherish the trips the three of them took to Germany. Marge loved sharing her German heritage, including German beer, with them and those trips were filled with many laughs. Marge frequently expressed gratitude for the great life she had and the great adventures she went on and encouraged her family to do the same, especially because she’s already “been there, done that!”.
If you were lucky enough to know Marge, you know how her energy and feisty personality can light up a room. Her family is deeply grateful for the time they shared with her and thank friends and family for their support during this season. Although her death was unexpected, Margaret passed with her children by her side, peacefully in her home she loved.
Our family is thankful that her grandchildren and children were able to make it in time to say goodbye and share their love for her.
