Maria Avila, 67, of Hammond, IN passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2010. She is survived by her husband, Alfonso Avila; son: Alfonso Avila Jr.of Hammond, IN; daughters: Claudia (Kyle) Kaczmarek of Carpentersville, IL and Sandra (Juan) Lopez of Munster, IN; 6 grandchildren; 5 sisters and 1 brother; preceded in death by her parents, Isidro and Maria Nunez. Visitation will be Friday, January 22, 2010 from 3:00-7:00 PM at Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Ave. (next to Fitness Pointe) Munster, IN and Saturday from 9:30-10:00 AM at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 AM at St. John Bosco Church Hammond, IN Interment, Memory Lane Cemetery, Schererville, IN.

I was browsing the internet looking for my mothers (modesta )old friend and sadly I come to find she has left this world . My mother use to watch Alfonsito , Carla and we had many thanksgivings and Christmas back in the 70’s and early 80’s with the family . I have memories of the family when they lived in. chicago . We will miss Maria very much. She was like an aunt to me. She was always at my moms house and she had the best laugh. She was always so "coqueta". I loved when she would bring food over because she was the best cook ever. She was one of my moms best friends and my mom coincidentally has a couple of friends named Maria, so I would joke with my mom when she would go out, if she was going out with the "Marias". I love you Maria and we'll miss you very much! I know I have another angel in the sky.
