Marilou Ahlgrim (nee Carroll), age 83, of Fishers, IN, formerly of Schererville, IN passed away April 23, 2010. She is survived by her loving daughters: Amy, formerly of Schererville, and Molly (Michael) Kraus of Fishers, IN; loving son, Michael, formerly of Schererville; four beloved grandchildren: Whitney, Ryan, Charles and Carolyn Kraus, all of Fishers, IN; and dear friends and caregivers Mary Navotny, Debbie Clinard, and Annie Meyers; her nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Everett; brother Eugene (Cy) Carroll, sister-in-law, Donna Carroll; sister, Joan Klinefelter, brother-in-law Eugene Klinefelter; and her sister and brother-in-law, Ida Louise and Aitken Young. Marilou was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region, and was involved in many philanthropic activities and social groups. She served on the Board of Directors of the former Carmelite Home for Boys and Hoosier Boys Town, an officer of the Beta Gamma Upsilon Sorority, a founder and long time supporter of the Hospice of the Calumet Area, and the Friends of Hospice. Marilou was a long time volunteer for the Community Hospital Auxiliary, and served on a variety of committees and fund raisers for the Red Garter Guild. She was a loyal Purdue fan and was a member of the President’s Council of Purdue University, Lafayette, Indiana. Marilou dearly loved her birthday club bridge luncheons, Wednesday bridge league, and her needlepoint club. She was a former member of Woodmar Country Club, Briar Ridge Country Club and St. Thomas More Church. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 directly at St. Maria Goretti Church, 500 Northgate Drive, Dyer, IN. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon, with Rev. Alfred Dettmer, celebrating the mass. Private burial will take place at St. Joseph-St. John Cemetery in Hammond, IN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of the Calumet Area or to Amedisys Hospice Services, 8435 Georgetown Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46268. Marilou will be dearly missed by her loving family and many friends.
