Marilynn E. Domsic, (nee White), formerly of Hessville, Munster and more recently, Valparaiso, IN, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025. She is survived by her children: Rose, Kathy, Dennis (Laura), Mary, Beth (late Bob) Giannetti, Dotty (Doug) Guzek, and daughter-in-law, Marcia (late Pete) Domsic; grandchildren: Ed (Suzie) Marcisz, Darla Domsic, Kristin (Charles) Pinkerton, Daniel Domsic, Tyler (Sofie) Domsic, Ashley (Shawn Revels) Domsic, Evan Domsic, Jillian Domsic, Joshua Guzek, and Anna Guzek; great-grandchildren: Megan and Lena Marcisz, River and Autumn Pinkerton, Saga and Emmy Domsic, and Quinn Revels. She also leaves behind special friends Donna and Dave Bashore, April Markul, and Judy Zuhn. Preceded in death by son, Peter M. Domsic, and son-in-law, Bob Giannetti.
Marilynn was more than a homemaker raising her seven children in Hessville. She had many interests and talents including sewing, classical music, dancing, and baking. Marilynn could sew anything from Christmas elves to prom and wedding dresses. She could bake anything from cookies and bread cornucopias to 3-tiered wedding cakes. She was an excellent ballroom dancer and could clear the floor dancing the Cha Cha! Her biggest passion was art where she excelled in any medium she tried, from calligraphy to pastels to sculpting and everything in between. She started painting in the 1970’s and continued for decades. Showcasing her creativity first with acrylics, then oils, and painting everything from still life, nudes and landscapes. Sadly, Macular Degeneration had taken away her vision, and she had stopped actively painting about 5 years ago. She exhibited her work in the early years of the Hammond Public Library International Cultural Festival with the Lacare Art League.
Marilynn also used her talents by volunteering teaching art at her kids’ school, OLPH Catholic School. In 1976, she helped daughter Mary’s 8th grade class paint the backdrop for the school musical “Let George Do IT!”, performed to celebrate the country’s Bicentennial Celebration. Marilynn also volunteered at a Merrillville, IN grade school teaching art to Kindergarteners. She also illustrated a children’s book during that time. Volunteering brought Marilynn so much joy. She was always happy to provide the kids with a project in a medium they would not otherwise have had the opportunity to try.
Granddaughter, Darla, said it best, “My Grandma Domsic was a great Gram who did arts and crafts with us. She was a gifted artist in many mediums. She taught us papier mache, painting, baking, making cookies and fruit into art and more. She made amazing clothes for our Barbies and for us. She painted nature scenes like Bob Ross. If you ever attended the Indiana Youth Ballet Nutcracker, she painted the rising Christmas tree that my dad built back in the 90’s that they still use today.”
Marilynn’s creativity is a legacy that continues with all her children, grandchildren and those she inspired through her volunteering.
Rest in peace, Mom. Heaven is your unlimited canvas.
The family would like to thank Powers Home Health, Green Oaks Assisted Living, Life Care Center of Valparaiso and Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly for the care and compassion shown to Marilynn over the years.

2026 at 2:00pm at Our Sheperd Lutheran Church 1515 W. 93rd Avenue Crown Point, Indiana 46307. Private Burial at the Historic Maplewood Cemetery, Crown Point, Indiana.
