Marvin E. Silverman, 75 of Munster, IN passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2010. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Barbara (nee Sherman); beloved and special father of Gary (Pamela) Silverman, Wendy (Derrin) Ebeltoft and Tracy Silverman; loving grandfather of Jeffrey and Brittany Ebeltoft; fond brother of Lil (late Dave) Goldberg and Adele (Bill) Plotkin; brother-in-law of Irene Silverman; caring uncle to many nieces and nephews. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Gertrude Silverman; cherished and special granddaughter, Stephanie Ebeltoft; brother Seymour Silverman and in-laws, Ruth and Allan Sherman.Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 from11:00 AM -12:00 P.M. at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Services will follow at the funeral home at noon with Rabbi Ben Kramer officiating. Interment will occur directly afterwards at Kneseth Israel Cemetery in Hammond, IN. Marvin graduated from East Chicago Washington High School, attended UCLA and graduated from Indiana University, where he earned his law degree as well. He practiced law from 1964-2000. After retiring from law, he went on to teach at Brown Mackie College where he was a professor and was the Department Chair for Paralegal and Legal Studies. Marvin was a past President of B’nai B’rth and the East Chicago Bar Association. Marvin was an avid Bears, White Sox, and Indiana University sports fan. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Hospice of the Calumet Area (600 Superior Street, Munster, IN 46321) in his memory would be greatly appreciated.
