Mary Jane (nee Stuber) Leahy, age 87, of Schererville, IN, formerly of Munster, IN passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016. She is survived by her children, Maureen (Bob) Matthews, Jeannie (Tim) Dworniczek, Mary “Patti” (Bill) Sopata, Gerry (Sue) Leahy and Marian Leahy; grandchildren, Michael (Joanne) Lis, Daniel (Aly) Lis, Mary Beth (Jason) Kaplan, Matthew (Amy) Stevens, Colleen (Dave) Thomas, Brigid Dworniczek, Mark (Polly Falaschetti) Sopata, Diane (Nick) Serna, Kristin (Jason) Douts, Patrick Leahy and Luke (Chitose) and Aaron Czapla, twelve great grandchildren; brother, Jerome (Jean) Stuber; good friend, Barbara Wilson; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Leahy; and parents Anna and Benjamin Stuber. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 DIRECTLY at St. Thomas More Catholic Church 8501 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN, with Reverend Michael Yadron, officiating. Interment will follow at St. John-St. Joseph Cemetery Hammond, IN. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 3:30 p.m., and again at the church on Wednesday, from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:00 a.m. Mass. Mary Jane was involved for over 40 years with the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Thomas More, as well as a member of St. Thomas More Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mary Jane’s name to the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Thomas More or Hospice of the Calumet.
