Matthew “Butch” Krucina, 85, of Lansing, IL formerly of East Chicago, IN. passed away on Friday, July 18, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Meta “Mitzi” Krucina (nee Williams); son, Kenneth (Denise) Krucina; daughter, Karen (Terry) Jasinski; daughter, Kristine (Harold) Monken; son, Keith Krucina; daughter, Kathleen Krucina; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; sisters-in-law, Jessie Barta and Joan Krucina; blessed with many nieces and nephews; preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Michael Krucina; grandson, Matthew Krucina; siblings, Jean (John) Muha, Joe Krucina, Walter (Anne) Krucina, Chester (Ethel) Krucina and Sylvester Krucina; Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 from 3:00-8:00 PM at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Funeral service will be on Thursday, 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be private. Butch refereed for 44 years with the IHSAA and in 1994 he was the LCAOA Official of the Year. He retired from Phillips Petroleum after 31 years of service. Butch served with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Salem during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Allied Post 369. He graduated with the first class from Bishop Noll Institute and was a member of the East Chicago Goodfellows Club. The family would like to thank Unity Hospice for all their care and kindness.
