Matthew J. Boris, 93 of Munster, IN passed away on Friday, January 6, 2011 He is survived by his sons: Randall Boris of San Francisco, CA and Jeffrey Boris (Satoko) of Tiburon, CA; Grandson-Matthew Yoshio Boris; Sister: Mary Kemp of Naperville, IL;Brother-in-Law: John A. Kulka (Janet)of Munster; Preceded in Death by his wife: Cecelia Louise; Parents: Michael and Kathryn, Brother Joseph. Visitation will be Thursday, January 12, 2012 from 3:00-8:00 PM at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Funeral service will be on Friday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be private at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL. Matt was a Senior Research Chemist and Metallurgist for American Steel Foundries (AMSTED Industries) in East Chicago for 31 years. During WWII and the Korean War, he was Chief Chemist of Cast Armor in East Chicago, developing battle tank armor.He served on the Executive Committee of the American Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers. He was a 25 year member of the American Society of Metals, earning several awards for best Research Publications. He was a Founding member of the Society of Applied Spectroscopy in Chicago as well as a member of American Microbeam Society. Matt was an expert speaker on Analytical Electron Microscopes.
