KASPRZAK, MICHAEL, L., Age 69, of Griffith, Indiana, passed away at home on June 17, 2023. Michael was a lifelong resident of Griffith, Indiana and graduated from Griffith High School-Class of 1972. Mike was a successful student and varsity athlete. His Varsity sports career consisted of Varsity football field and baseball and he was also a member of the Letterman’s Club for Varsity sports. During his senior year, his football position on offense included being a reserve Quarterback where he led his team with a 38% Pass Completion Average and gained 16 yards on the carry. He was also a lifelong member of St Mary Church in Griffith, IN.
He spent his career at Yellow Freight where his position was in shipping and receiving. He retired after 25 years of service. He was also a retired member of International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 710.
Michael was an inspiration to his family, whether it was his immediate family or younger cousins, especially in the formative years. He was a positive force to his family and friends and showed us all class and acceptable behavior expectations and taught us all the meaning of getting involved in the best of what high school has to offer. He was passionate about anything he perceived as wrongdoing in the world and sought the correct answers to solve any problems that would crop up throughout life’s stages. He was an inspiration to all of us and will be sorely missed here on earth.
His hobbies and interests included being an avid guitar and harmonica player. He was a huge fan of Classic Rock and devout Chicago Cubs fan. Additionally, he was a gifted writer. He also had a keen interest in psychology and sociology and following high school he began his undergraduate college career at Indiana University as a Psychology major.
Family and friends may gather to remember Michael for visitation at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave, Munster, IN 46321 on Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 4:00-7:30pm. Funeral services will be held immediately following visitation beginning at 7:30pm, officiated by Father Theodore Mens. Private interment will take at Calumet Park Cemetery, 2305 W 73rd Ave, Merrillville, IN 46410.
