Miriana Robinson, age 82, slipped peacefully away to rest on November 18. Miriana lived an amazing life, full of adventure, travel, beauty and love. Miriana grew up in the breathtaking Baska, Croatia, Yugoslavia, on the island of Krk, where she swam with dolphins in the ocean and helped her father on his fishing boat. She traveled to 83 countries and spoke 4 languages. Her adventures are as from a book: she layed in King Tut's tomb, rode camels in India, watched waterfalls in Africa, saw the Terra Cotta Warriors in China, swam the Great Barrier Reef, relaxed in Monaco, rode on ships across the oceans and loved the many places she went in this big world we share.A stunning young woman, she moved to the US at age 17. Ultimately she settled in Munster with her husband Burton, working at LTV Steel and raising her family. She was dedicated in her Catholic faith and attended Mass regularly at St. Thomas More Church. Her life was spent caring for others and she was loved beyond measure. Miriana never knew a stranger, striking up conversations everywhere she went. Her kindness and generosity were limitless. Her last years and days were filled with outings, concerts, meals and togetherness with her daily companions and caregivers who survive her, her daughter Rea and granddaughter Aira, with immense help from her son-in-law Don who was, to her, her own son. She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Burton, and by her parents. She is also survived by her son, Radley (Marjorie) Robinson, daughter Renee Gutsch, grandchildren Erich, Obed, Kate, Matthew, and Lilijana, and a number of dear friends whom she could always count on. She expressed her gratitude daily that she had a wonderful life, that with help she was able to remain in the home she built with her husband almost 40 years ago, that she received daily visits and endless phone calls in her twilight years after a lifetime of giving love, and that she was alive to see her beloved Cubs win the world series. To honor her memory, call your parents, visit them, hug them and tell them you love them. Donations of volunteer hours may be made to Meals on Wheels.Visitation will be Tuesday, November 22 from 3:00-8:00 pm at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Avenue, Munster and on Wednesday from 9:30-10:00 AM at the church. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 23 at 10am at St. Thomas More Church in Munster, with a private burial to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery.
