Moira McShane Lukas, age 60, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2012, at home in Brisbane, CA, surrounded by her family. She was born and raised in Munster, IN by her loving parents, Joseph Henry McShane and the late Helen Elizabeth McShane (Shreiner). She attended Culver-Stockton College in Canton, MO and later received an AA in Interior Design from Ray-Vogue College of Design in Chicago, IL. She was employed by the Brisbane Fire Department as an Office Specialist for 10 years and was a Community Emergency Volunteer (CEV). For 12 years she was a member of the San Francisco Chapter of the Society of Western Artists (SWA) and served two of those years as President. She was on the board of the Brisbane Dance Workshop (BDW) and a member of their singing group. She was an accomplished watercolorist, receiving many awards for her work. She was most proud of the Arts Advocate of the Year Award and the Brightest Star in Brisbane Award. She was an avid San Francisco Giants fan and enjoyed swimming and book club. Moira is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Nickolas John Lukas and her two adoring daughters, Helena Maria Lukas and Nicole McShane Lukas Longfish (Dela); dear sister of James Henry McShane III (Mary), Joseph Niall McShane (Maria), Brian Hugh McShane (Kaia), Margaret Ann Ogren (Tom); dear sister-in-law to Anthony Lukas (Sheila); beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. Moira's love and caring for her family and friends will be missed by all whose lives she touched. A Memorial Mass will be held on September 1, 2012 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas More Church, 8501 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. In lieu of flowers, donations to Catholic Charities of Northwest Indiana would be greatly appreciated.
