Nancy Carole (nee Udowski) Gustaitis, age 82 of Schererville, Indiana passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2025. She was born on March 19, 1942 in East Chicago, IN, daughter to the late Madlyn (nee Miloshoff) and Anthony Udowski. Loving and devoted wife to Dr. John Gustaitis; Beloved mother of sons, John (Chris) Gustaitis, Michael (Laura Zangara) Gustaitis, Alan (Jennifer) Gustaitis; Proud grandmother to John (JJ), Joseph, Jack, Michaela, Jean-Luc, Jacob, Ryan and Nicholas Gustaitis; Adoring sister of the late Madeline (Thomas) Summers.

Nancy graduated from East Chicago Washington in 1960. Following high school, she briefly attended Indiana University and worked for the East Chicago School District. Nancy was very involved with her graduating class and an active member of the reunion committee. She demonstrated a strong commitment to community service, notably through her involvement with Munster Community Hospital. She married John, her high school sweetheart in September 1965. They were celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary this year.

Nancy was extremely devoted to all things FAMILY. She was the foundation and core of holidays, vacations and family events.  Her home was always a gathering place for her children, grandchildren, and their friends. She treated everyone like family, welcoming and cooking for all!   Nancy was especially involved with her grandchildren, attending thousands of sporting events and school activities, often traveling hundreds of miles. She was an avid traveler, loved flowers and gardening, winning at the casino, and of course…Baking! Everyone loved her Christmas cookies and baklava.

Nancy was a beacon of warmth and kindness to all who knew her and will forever be known for her glamor, style and grace.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025 directly at St. Thomas More Catholic Church 8501 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN with a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial offered by Reverend Michael Yadron.  Interment will be private.  Visitation will be on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at KISH FUNERAL HOME 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 4:30 p.m. and again on Monday, at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:00 a.m. Mass.
