Nancy Ellen (Kolten) Feldman, 57, died on Sunday March 15, 2015 at the Riley Hospice Residence in Munster. Nancy was born in Gary, IN and attended elementary school there until her family moved to Munster. She graduated from Munster High School, Purdue University Lafayette with a B.S. in Nursing and Loyola University with a Masters in Social Work. She received her Cosmetology Certificate at the Creative Beauty Academy in Highland. Nancy was a Cosmetologist and co-owner of Phaze I Day Spa in Highland for 33 years. Her second career was as a licensed Clinical Social Worker. She facilitated several support groups for cancer survivors and family members at the Cancer Resource Centre of Munster. Nancy served as a bereavement counselor for Hospice of the Calumet Area. She conducted home health assessments and made resource referrals for St. Margaret Mercy Hospital. She also maintained a private practice in Munster. Nancy was dedicated to serving the community. She was former co-chair of the Food Pantry and current board member of the Jewish Federation of NW Indiana. She was a member of Congregation Beth Israel. Nancy participated in local fundraising and broadcasts for the Muscular Dystrophy Telethons and American Cancer Society “Look Good, Feel Better” program. She was a finalist for the Munster Rotary Club 2014 Woman of the Year Award. Nancy also established the “Bags from Bob” program through Hospice to provide personal comfort and pampering items for family members who serve as caregivers for the patients at the Riley Hospice Residence in Munster. The project was dedicated to the memory of her cousin Robert “Bob” Green of Chicago who received exceptional care during his journey to survive brain cancer. She is survived by her loving husband, Edward Feldman; precious son, Joshua Feldman; beloved parents, Seymour and Eve Kolten; sister, Carol (Elliott) Segal; brother-in-law, Dr. Gerald (Git) Feldman; nephews, Matthew Segal, Bobby (Rachel) Segal, Jake Feldman and Mark Feldman; uncles, Donald (Iris) Moskovitz, Eddie Green and Maury Dornberg; numerous cousins and best friends. She was preceded in death by her aunts, Helen Dornberg, Jean Kolten, Lillian Green, and “uncle/aunt” Art and Sylvia Weiss. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 12:30 PM at Congregation Beth Israel, 535 Progress Ave., Munster, IN. Rabbi Mordechai Levin and Rabbi Emeritus Raphael Ostrovsky of Congregation Beth Israel will co-officiate the service. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 11:00 AM-12:30 PM at the Synagogue. Interment will be at Kneseth Israel Cemetery, Hammond, IN.
