Nancy J. Lemanski

October 14, 1938 - January 17, 2012

Nancy J. Lemanski, 73 of Munster, IN passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2012. She is survived by her only child, loving daughter: Laurene Lemanski; many fond cousins, 2 sisters-in-law, nephew and great nephew; Preceded in death by her husband: Robert Lemanski; parents: Walter ‚ÄúVan‚Äù and Frances (nee Graczyk) Plucinski; dear friend: Anthony Waznonis. Visitation will be Friday, January 19, 2012 from 3:00-8:00 PM at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN and on Saturday from 11:30-12:00 at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 12:00 PM at St. Maria Goretti Church, 500 Northgate Dr. Dyer, IN. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL. Nancy retired as Office Administrator after 30 years of service at J&I Construction in Chicago and was a member of St. Ann Church Bereavement Group where she has acquired many, many close friends.

I've tried very hard in this past month to come up with something profound to say about Nancy and the years I was so fortunate to have known her, the characterstics classy and elegant continually come up in my thoughts.But, of course, she was so much more than that, like a rare rose that you never forget. She was compassionate to those who mourned, like herself, from the loss of a spouse. She was also real, which could rub a person the right or wrong way. But she was always true to herself and did her best to be true to all she knew, including her daughter, Laureene, who I know she loved dearly and continues to do even in her passing. To my dear friend, Larueene, do know you're in my continual thoughts and prayers.

Nancy was always a lady and she treated everyone so well, we miss her warm and loving personality. Nancy was intelligent and to our pleasure, she had a keen sense of humor. Given her manner, it was not surprising that she was a volunteer and devoted much time to helping others through the grieving process. Nancy earned respect in her career and genuine heart felt appreciation from many for her kind and considerate ways. Laurene, so sorry for your loss. I know it will be hard for you but remember all the memories you have with your mother, they will bring you comfort. When we spoke today I kept thinking about how God gives us little gifts and at the time we don't even realize it. What a blessing it is that you have all those gifts to look back on. The funeral service and what the Priest said to you- that was meant especially for you. You honored your Mother and she would be proud. I'm glad I got to know her in person and through your stories. Nancy was a very special person, full of life and laughter, passion and good sense. She knew how to have a good time and I always looked forward to seeing her when the all the relatives would come over to my Grandpa's farm. Nancy was always one of my very favorite relatives and I am so sorry for her passing.She always had a sparkle in her eye!Karen Minto
