Nancy was a graduate of Highland High School (class of 1972) and Purdue University Calumet, with a degree in Elementary Education. While at Purdue Cal, she was a Little Sister of the Phi Kappa Thetas, and where she met her husband of 46 years, Jim. She decided to enter the banking industry and worked at Hoosier State Bank, Bank of Highland, Sand Ridge Bank, First Financial Bank, and Peoples Bank, retiring in February 2020. Working in the community, everywhere she went Nancy saw a face she knew! Nancy loved shopping, walking, sitting in the sun, a vacation on a sunny beach and baking her famous Pumpkin Rolls. She enjoyed planting flowers around her yard and watering and nurturing them all summer long. She had a deep love for Pepsi and sweets, including M&Ms, chocolate covered peanuts and Good & Plenty. Nancy enjoyed visiting downtown Chicago, attending Purdue football games and watching the Chicago Cubs.
But most of all, Nancy was a loving and proud Wife (late), Mom and Grandma. She loved seeing her children and grandchildren, who always brought a smile to her face. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
During recent months many people went out of their way to help Nancy, specifically, our family would like to extend a special thank you to Paul Chiki, Valerie MacCartney, Megan Waters, caregivers Melissa and Debbie, Dunes Hospice and StoryPoint of Schererville for helping with care and providing Nancy with love and compassion. Also thank you to Nancy’s friends who brought her ice cream and visited her over the past 13 months.
