Nelia V. Bleza, age 84, beloved Mother, Lola, Sister, Tita and friend passed away
surrounded by family on Sunday, September 19, 2021. She is survived by her
sons, Dr. Maximo V. Bleza Jr. (Sandra), Dr. Robert D. Bleza, and Dr. David A. Bleza
(Kara); siblings, Benjamin A. Valencia (Renee), Cecilia V. Kramer (Thomas) and
Josefina A. Valencia; ten grandchildren, Natalie G. Bleza, Nicholas R. Bleza,
Madeline C. Bleza, Alexandria M. Bleza, Noah M. Bleza, Brendan K. Bleza,
Samantha E. Bleza, Jacob M. Bleza, Mia A. Bleza and Kai M. Bleza; and many nieces
and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aurelio O. and Pastora
Valencia; husband, Dr. Maximo T. Bleza; and brothers, Melchor A. Valencia,
Antonio Valencia, Romeo A. Valencia, Francisco A. Valencia, Carlos Valencia,
Manuel Valencia; and sister Emma V. Melendez
Nelia emigrated from the Philippines to the United States in 1960 after completing
nursing school. She worked as a registered nurse in New York, Michigan and
Illinois. With a natural poise and quiet demeanor, Nelia was best known for her
dedication and loving devotion to her family. She was happiest when hosting
family gatherings and preparing meals for all to enjoy, especially her
grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, golfing, and singing Filipino karaoke. She will
always be remembered for her loving, caring ways. She left a lasting impression on
all she met, but mostly on those she loved.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Kish Funeral Home 10000
Calumet Avenue Munster, Indiana from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and again on
Saturday, at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. Mass.
Funeral Services will be on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at St. James the Less
Catholic Church, 9640 Kennedy Avenue, Highland, Indiana with a 10:30 a.m. Mass
of Christian Burial will be offered by Reverend Gregory Bim-Merle. A private family
