Paul Chico, 82 of Lansing, IL passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 27, 2011 surrounded by his loving wife, Carmen and their children, Chach (Russell) Chico-Romo, Faye (Louis) Torres, Dehlia (Fernando) Mendoza, Juliana (Richard) Almaguer, Cynthia Chico, Fidel (Christina) Chico, Madalene (Steven) Vargas and adopted daughter, Jeannette Medrano. Born and raised in Chicago, the son of Pedro and Noverta Chico. After serving in the army as a military guard, where he earned the WWII Victory and Army of Occupation Medals, he returned home to marry his high school sweetheart, Carmen Chavez, and subsequently raised 7 children. In Paul's early years he was an avid weightlifter, winning the title \”Mr. Chicago\” in an amateur weightlifting championship, and jogger. Paul was a retired U.S. Steelworker. He will be forever remembered by his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 2:00-8:00 PM at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN and on Friday from 9:30-10:00 AM at the church. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday April 1, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. Maria Goretti Church, 500 Northgate Dr. Dyer, IN. Interment will be at 12:30 PM at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
