Paul J. Fischer (Rybowiak), 83, formerly of South Chicago, IL passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2012. He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (Anthony) Pagorek; son, Randall Fischer; grandchildren, Anthony (Katy), Erica, Bryan, and Hilary Pagorek, Ariel Fischer; great grandchildren, Audrey and Caroline Pagorek, Avaya Sullivan; dearest companion, Irmgard Butterfield, brother Walter (Lillian) Rybowiak, and sister Henrietta (late Edward) Kaminski; brother-in-law, Edward (Leona) Zalewski. Paul also had many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great- nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Stella Rybowiak, wife, Lorraine (nee Zalewski), son, Paul J.Fischer Jr, brother, Arthur Rybowiak, sisters, Dorothy (late Ted) Niedzialek and Barbara (late Ted) Szymanski. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 4:00 PM at St. Thomas More Church, 8501 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Interment will be private. Paul was one of the former/last owner’s of the tavern his father started, Scratch’s, on Manistee Ave. in Chicago. He served his country as an Army medic during the Korean War. Paul was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, and Moose Lodge. All who knew Paul knew he loved to sing. His favorite song was “My Way” by Sinatra.
