Peggy (nee West) Gardner, 78 died peacefully at home surrounded by family on November 21, 2020. Peggy was born in Hammond, IN on April 29, 1942. She spent the majority of her life in Northwest Indiana, graduating from Bishop Noll Institute in 1961. In later years, she moved to Oswego, IL to be closer to her grandchildren.
Peggy married Loren Gardner of Spanish Fork, Utah in 1975 after working together for years at Inland Steel. Although their physical time together on Earth was brief, their eternal love is now celebrated 40 years later. Peggy is survived by their children, Brent (Johanna) Gardner, Jackie Gardner, and Loren (Kristen) Gardner; She is Grammy to Max, Molly, Emma, Vivian, and Henry.; She is survived by 3 sisters and 1 brother, Jackie Kowal, Bob West, Lynn Flynn, Pam West; and 2 sisters-in-law, Kathy Powell and Vickie Sommers. Peggy was preceded in death by her brother, Dick; her brother-in-law, Brent; her parents-in-law, Max and Vivian; and her parents, Jack and Marge. Peggy will be remembered for her selfless nature, her kindness, her great sense of humor, and her unconditional love for her family and friends. She will be missed and loved by many, with all our hearts, and all our souls, for all eternity.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Alzheimer’s Association. A visitation will be held at Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN from 2:00-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 25, 2020. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Maria Goretti Church 500 Northgate Dr. Dyer, IN at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 28, 2020, followed by interment at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Gary, IN.
