Perry “PQ” Reinert, 82, of Munster, IN passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2020 after a longtime illness. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty (nee Hess); son, John (Laura) Reinert; daughters, Tracey Gabrish and Leta (Danny) Engram; son-in-law, Tim Gabrish; grandchildren, Hannah and Luke Reinert, Samantha and Jack Gabrish, Kelby and Landon Engram; several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the funeral home.
Perry graduated from Bishop Noll Institute Class of 1955. He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Economics and a minor in Business Law. He also was a Sergeant Major of the Air Force Drill Team at Purdue. Perry was Past President of: Life Underwriters Association, St. Thomas More Holy Name Society, St. Thomas More School Board and Catholic Charities (Gary Diocese). He was the recipient of Catholic Family Service Award from the Illiana Co-Ordinating Council for the Handicapped, Life Insurance-National Quality Award, Health Insurance-National Quality Award and the Life Insurance-Leaders Club of Indiana. Perry received advanced Insurance education from DePaul University- Chicago, Illinois, Loyola University-Chicago, Illinois and Indiana University. PQ was one of the co-founders of Hospice of Northwest Indiana. He was a past member of the Jaycees and served as a Demolition Instructor for the Indiana National Guard, Hammond, IN. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Hospice of the Calumet Area in his memory would be appreciated.
