Peter James Siavelis, 80, of Cedar Lake, IN ascended to be with his savior on September 6, 2015. Celebrating his life are his devoted wife of 61 years, Patrecia, his daughters, Elenie (Keith) Smith, Rita Siavelis, Mary Zubay and son, James (Gail) Siavelis. Also grandchildren, Gregory (Memry) Smith, Daniel (Lea) Smith, Caleb Horton, Jorden Zubay, Aidan Siavelis, Owen Siavelis and two great grandsons, Archibold Smith and Sylas Smith. He leaves behind two special friends, Herb and Josephine Yekel, two brothers and a sister in Greece, George, Basil and Rita. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Eleni Siavelis, a brother Constantine and grandson, Roger Smith. Peter was born in Agia Sofia, Arcadia, Greece and immigrated to the United States in 1951. He was a loyal husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was an active member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, the Pan Arcadians and the Hammond chapter of the Order of AHEPA. He was employed at Queen Anne/Premier Candy Company for 25 years. He was known for being a great cook and throwing the best lamb roast. Visitation for Peter will be held at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN from 4:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, September 10, 2015 with funeral service at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Hammond, IN on Friday September 11, 2015 at 10:00 am. Burial is immediately following at Calumet Park cemetery, Merrillville, IN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kidney Foundation, www.kidney.org/support. May he rest in peace.
