Peter J. Katagas, age 93, formerly of Calumet City, IL passed away on June 6, 2016 with his family by his side. Peter was born in Greece on August 16, 1922. He came to America and met his loving Pauline and was married for 64 wonderful years. Peter is survived by his, 95 year old wife, Pauline (nee Kintonis) Katagas; his loving son, John Katagas; his loving angel, Ruth Moore; and her loving daughters Melissa and Ashley; son-in-law, Mike McCreight; loving granddaughter, Dr. Jennifer McCreight, Pat (Kristi) McCreight and Chris (Erin) McCreight; his loving sister, Matina Preka, loving niece, Elina Karmokolias; George and Alkisti; and loving niece and nephew, Dini and Tony Eliopoulos and family. He was preceded in passing by his adoring daughter, Elena McCreight; brother, Bill; and sisters, Irene and Landa. Funeral Services will be held at 12 p.m. (noon) on Monday, June 13, 2016 at Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN, with Rev. Fr. Davis Bissias, officiating. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery Hammond, IN. Visitation will be on Monday, at the funeral home, from 10:00 a.m. until the 12:00 p.m. (noon) service. Peter J. Katagas was a true gentlemen, respected and loved by all that knew him. He will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials in Peter’s name to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church or the charity of your choice.
