Phil Derrico was born June 16, 1942 and was born into eternity December 17, 2008. He was devoted to his family, his faith and many friends. All who knew Phil, knew someone who loved life and the company of others. He enjoyed outdoor sports such as golf, hunting, fishing and riding his Harley. He had a passion for life that allowed him to find the joy of living life fully. Whether it was movies, music, art or reading the latest Harry Potter book, he enjoyed seeing how artists portrayed life and expressed themselves in their craft. He acquired his love for art in college. Perhaps, the art he enjoyed the most was cooking. He had a gifted palate that enjoyed preparing and eating food. Following such a gift, he became a restaurateur. He was the founder of a local Pizza chain, Rico’s Pizza and later a partner in two local Aurelio’s Restaurants. He was an active member of Wesleyan Community Church, Christian Motorcycle Association, local Harley associations in Crete and Oak Lawn, a bible study for businessmen, a men’s club-GForce and various local and area organizations. He loved traveling and finding new adventures in new places.Born in Chicago, he ultimately moved to Munster where he resided at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, Claudia (nee Paice), his children; Ellen (Gerald Terfloth) Derrico, Christine (John) Shill and Sarah (Clark) Case, his mother, Lucille Derrico of Appleton, Wisconsin, brothers: David (Patty) Derrico and Mark (Sue) Derrico, sisters: Deb (Dan) Noel and Judy (Dan) Steidl; mother-in-law: Lorraine Paice; four children of his spouse; beloved grandchildren and uncle of numerous nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at Wesleyan Community Church 8844 South Austin Ave., Oak Lawn, Illinois, 60453 on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 11:00 AM with a visitation at 10:30 AM.
