Phyllis A. Krull (nee Hmurovic), of Munster, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025 surrounded by her family at the age of 77. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Thomas J. Krull Jr. and daughters Tara (Matthew) Poteraj, of Jeffersonville, IN and Erin (Richard) Novak of Munster, IN.  Cherished “Gammie” of five grandchildren who were the loves and light of her life:  Emily and John Poteraj and Thomas, Richard, and William Novak. Phyllis is also survived by her sister, Lois (Vincent) Hrabrich of Cleveland, WI along with many treasured in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.  Preceded in death by her parents, John and Sylvia Hmurovic.

Phyllis was born on January 11, 1948 and grew up in Whiting, Indiana.  She graduated from Clark High School in 1965.  After graduating she worked as an administrative assistant for CNA in Chicago, Illinois.  For the majority of her years, she was a devoted wife and mother taking care of her family and volunteering at her daughters’ schools and activities with her “Lunch Bunch.”  Phyllis planned a variety of family vacations throughout the years including the Grand Canyon, Disney World, Hawaii, Marco Island, and multiple Caribbean cruises that led to many humorous stories and adventures that will be told for years to come.  Phyllis carried on her nurturing role in caring for her grandchildren on a daily basis making some of the best pancakes, muffins, hot chocolate, and memories.  Her family and friends, her greatest treasures, will miss her contagious laugh and funny stories – but know these happy memories will linger forever.

Friends may visit with the family at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave, Munster, IN, on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 3:00pm to 7:00pm, with a prayer service from Father Charles Niblick at 4:00pm, as well as again on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 from 9:30am to 10:00am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00am at Saint Maria Goretti Church, 500 Northgate Drive, Dyer, IN, with burial to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN.
