Rena Carol Murphy, age 86, of Dyer, IN, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2015. Rena Carol Murphy, age 86, of Dyer, IN, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2015. She is survived by her children, Kathleen (Terry) Farris, Karen (Dennis Wickburg) Davis, Karla (David) Verhagen, Bill (Karen Zickert) Murphy, Tim (Shirl) Murphy and Margaret (David) Walther; sixteen grandchildren; thirty three great grandchildren; and son-in-law, Thomas DeVries. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Gladys (nee Dornburg) Williams; husband, William H. Murphy; daughter, Kevin Maureen DeVries; and son-in-law, Mark Davis. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. DIRECTLY at Trinity Lutheran Church 2505 Indiana Ave. Lansing, IL, with Reverend John Holyer, officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Park Cemetery Calumet Park, IL. Visitation will be on Monday, December 21, 2015 at Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and again at the church on Tuesday, from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. service. Rena was lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church Lansing, IL. She had many interests, which included her family and friends, quilting, reading, and especially Bible study. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Rena’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church Lansing, IL or Hospice of the Calumet Area Munster, IN.
