Richard A. Bernat, 82 of Munster, IN passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024. He is survived by his sons, Richard (Erin) Bernat Jr. and Alan Bernat; sister, Vivian Grzyb; nieces, Debbie (Al) Chiaro and Donna (Jeff) Besse; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; Precious friends, Justin, Tyler, Molly, and Morgan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores; parents, Alexander, and Stephanie Bernat; sister, Patricia Grendzinski, and brother, Robert Bernat.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas More Church, Munster, IN. Interment will be private. Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 3:00-7:00 pm with a prayer service at 3:30 pm at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN and on Thursday from 9:30-10:00 am at the church.

Richard retired from Amoco Oil and was a member of the Standard Oil Annuitants Club. He was a member of Ironworkers Local 1 and proudly served in the U.S. Army. Richard was a longtime member of St. Thomas More Church. In lieu of flowers, contribution to the Humane Society in Munster, IN. in his memory would be appreciated.
