He was my band instructor at St. Casimir back in the 70s. I recently was saying I'd like to see him. And now I couldn't even make the visitation because I've been on Florida all week. I'm sorry to hear this, he was an amazing man that I really looked up to.
Sorry for your loss. We spent many evenings together signing up new students for band. Truly dedicated to his students and family. He will be missed. One of a kind.

Phil and Leah, One of my favorite recent memories of your Dad was just 3 years ago, meeting up with him at SJB as he helped select the instrument of choice for my daughter to play. It was a bit emotional knowing that my band instructor from the 1980's, would be her band instructor. Flute for both of us! She would then proceed to tell me stories of practice and it would transport me right back to my childhood! Sad to say he never "lost" a baton during their practices! ;) He clearly softened as he aged!!!! I even talked to him about that! It's clear he influenced many students through the years and was foundational to all of us. I'll always cherish the memories of him, and know that his heart, love of music, and education lives on in MANY throughout this country now, no doubt!
Please accept my condolences to the family on this sad occasion. Mr. Mlynarski was a huge influence on my life! He was my first Band Director at St. Thomas Moore in the 70's. I can attribute my career as a musician and music educator to his inspiration! Fond memories of band concerts in the gym, 4th of July parades (he taught me how to march!), Band Camp during the summers, Band Days at Indiana University - these all gave me connections to my future opportunities in drum corps and college - and inspiration to become a music educator myself. I teach in Huntington Beach, CA now and hope that I can pass Mr. M's inspirations on to future generations of musicians. Mr. M, I hope you are in a wonderful band in heaven and can look down and see the amazing impact you had creating a love of music in soo many people!!! Now its time for the second-line band to celebrate the life of Mr. Mlynarski!!
Very saddened to hear of the loss of Mr. M. - a true treasure to the Catholic school bands in our area. His family's loss is shared by countless more past students and friends. A student of his at St. John the Baptist (Whiting) in the early 1980's, he had a big impact on my life. He was a magnificent teacher, band instructor, and mentor. I continued playing in bands through college and was thrilled to participate in the alumni reunion marching in Whiting's 4th of July parade a few years ago. Mr. M. was as friendly and exuberant as always and it was so fun to catch up with him and play for him again. He was a huge influence on so many in the area over his long and prosperous career. We all loved Mr. M. and I hope he is playing some polkas and directing some bands up in Heaven now.
Your Father was an amazing instructor to my daughter. He helped her realize her love for the clarinet. He will be dearly missed.
Our sincere condolences to you and your family. May God grant perpetual light on Mr. M.

Rest in peace Mr. Mlynarski. You will be greatly missed. Set up your own band up there Mr. M.??
Mr. Mlynarski was our band teacher weekly at St. John Bosco when I was in junior high. I always thought he was a wonderful instructor, and now as an adult I have even more respect for his patience. If I didn’t live on the east coast I would come to pay my respects in person. My prayers are with his family
Mr. M. Truly the best music and band instructor ever. A great experience with a caring teacher and musician for my three children, back in the 80’s at St Casimir. Also I believe it was his band’s first ‘gig’ when they played at my father’s wedding. You were one of the great ones Mr. M.
I will really miss Mr. M. I have known him as a teacher, when he was the band director at Our Lady of Grace, and as a colleague at St. Thomas. I will miss him coming to my office just to check in and chat, miss hearing his unmistakable voice asking if "the boss was in", and miss watching him direct our band students with passion, discipline and love. He is irreplaceable, and St Thomas More is the poorer for his loss. Eternal Rest grant unto him, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him. Mr. M, you were one of the best!

Our deepest condolences to the Mlynarski family. He was our neighbor and our good friend. We'll miss our conversations in the Screen House during the Summer, his great "jokes", but most of all his thoughts on to adjust to difficult situations, his great laugh, and personality. We'll miss him deeply.
Sue, Joe, Uncle Mike, Phil, Leah, Gabe, & Kiana - Our deepest sympathies on the loss of Rick; he was one of a kind and will be greatly missed. I will always cherish my memories of the 4th of July parties, the Halloween yard, and celebrating homecoming down at IU. Rick could carry on a conversation with anyone he met and always made everyone feel welcome. I'll miss his easy smile, his great laugh and his "funny" jokes. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
I remember being at a family gathering when it dawned on me that once our mother’s generation had passed, the cousins probably wouldn’t get together anymore. Rick looked at me with a slightly pained expression, knowing that was probably true, but he reassured me we wouldn’t let that happen.
I think he knew I don’t participate in social media. He kept in touch with me over the years with long phone calls and email messages. What a great guy. When we spoke last week, we promised to get the family together in my backyard. Sweet, reassuring words that really just mean we are still in each other’s hearts.
I’m so sorry to hear about Mr. M’s passing. I knew him through the Catholic Schools Band Camp, and he was a great band teacher. He will be missed.
Phil, I am so sorry for your loss. I was just thinking of your dad and how it was solo contest time, the one time of year I'd see him now that camp has ended. I enjoyed hearing his stories about you and your family; he adored his grandkids. He touched so many lives, even briefly, that his memory will continue to live on.
My condolences and prayers to the family. I am going to miss his music.

Our most heartfelt condolences to the Mlynarski family and to his extended STM family. May God comfort and uplift and encourage you in this difficult time.
Great man has passed on. Hope you all find peace soon.
RIP, Mr. M. You were my first band teacher at St. John Bosco, way back in the 80’s. Thanks for everything!
Phil and family, Your Dad had such an amazing impact on so many young minds. His influence is obvious in the many lives that he touched through his love of music. So grateful for being just one of many students that had the opportunity to learn from him. I would still run into him around town, or at some social function. I was always so happy to see him. He had a knack of putting everyone at ease with a joke or a hug. I'm so sad for you and your family, and sorry such a wonderful person is gone.
Phillip and family,
Our deepest sympathy and condolences on the loss of your Dad. All of you are in our hearts, thoughts and prayers.
With love,
Steve and Jill Cox
My deepest condolences to the Mlynarski family and all of the bands he has conducted over the years. Mr. M was an amazing teacher, director, and role model.
I'm stunned that you are gone.....my old friend from BNI and one of the nicest, most caring men I've ever known. The polkas are rocking in heaven now.
Fondly remembering your great STM bands! May you be leading an orchestra in heaven with all your family and friends!
Grateful for the chance to learn music from one of the most passionate people I’ve ever met. It was evident how much he enjoyed sharing his love of music with students and seeing them grow. Lots of fun memories from our concerts and the excitement of sharing with the audience what we accomplished after all those weeks of practice. Sending his family comfort in this time

He was our neighbor and best of all our friend. We will miss our visits in the Screen House in the Summer, and all the other visits year round. We laughed at his jokes and listened as he gave us advice on life. May he rest in peace.
