Richard Peter Komyatte felt that a life well-lived is best measured by how well we share our time, talents and treasure with people in need, those in poverty and those most vulnerable. Our beloved husband, father and grandfather’s life was indeed well-lived by these standards. For his many friends and colleagues, this is his story.Continue Reading

To Dear Sylvia & Family - I have such wonderful memories of spending time with Quince & Sylvia over the years - in Indiana and with our family in Connecticut. Our Jim and Quince were such great friends from college forward, and ND Football games were always enjoyed together and over the phone. The Pino’s pray for all of you during this time of his spiritual transition, and we will hold close beautiful thoughts of his great laugh, eloquent style, and wonderful zest for life. We know that he and Jim will be cheer-cheering for Ol’ Notre Dame from above! With much love and great sympathy - Connie Pino and Patty, Jimmy, Danny and families

I especially recall and enjoy the photo at our 60th reunion, of Rich, Jack Dolan, and myself, Steve Dornbach. This was in the lobby of the Morris Inn.

We have lost a true Saint! His support....emotional, intellectual, financial, and so thoughtful ...helped us to serve those with low or no income as attorneys locally for Legal Services of Northwest Indiana and the Northwest Indiana Pro Bono Committee and statewide for the Indiana Legal Services Organization. He was a friend, a mentor, and my personal hero. My love and hugs to all of his family, his law staff, and all who were blessed by his life.
Ken Forsythe left a message on February 15, 2022:
May God bless you, and give you eternal rest, Mr. Komyatte. "Thank you" are far too simple of words to use to show my appreciation and gratitude for your love and support given to me and my family over the last 30 years or so. Personally, I want to thank you for giving me my first jobs in high school and college at the firm, for being so gracious in giving us tickets to countless games through the years, for the yearly Christmas ham, for allowing me to help give out presents to families in need, and for always taking the time to talk and to genuinely care about the simple things going on in my life. Your love and generosity was always clearly evident to everyone who knew you. Thank you, God bless, and much love to you forever, Mr. Komyatte.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

To my dear "boss" but more importantly "friend." I am so glad that we were able to share such wonderful conversations together for the past 30 years. Especially during the last three years, your powerful words of insight, encouragement, and Christ-like spirit have meant so much to me. We have laughed together, shed tears together, and even prayed together. Whatever the situation, you have been a mentor to me in ways that no one else could. God used you to get me to the place where I am today. For that I will be eternally grateful. Thank you for being so, so good to me and my family. Thank you for the joy of being able to attend so many games, especially Notre Dame Football. And I thank you for your mutual love. I am quite certain that this past Sunday you heard the Heavenly Father say to you, "Well done, good and faithful servant!" You touched a lot of lives. You made people around you better. You displayed the love of God wherever you went. I am truly going to miss you, but will see you again. Thank you! I love you!

We would like to extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to each of you. We all have such fond memories of Mr. Komyatte. We always loved our time with him on campus at Notre Dame and at football games as well. He always made each of us feel personally important and wanted to know what was going on in our respective lives. We also look back with great appreciation and great memories of the White Sox, Bulls, and Hawks games we attended. We cannot tell you how much those memories mean to us. Similarly, Christi could not have asked for a better first legal boss. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers this week. The Andrew Blum Family

Jack Dolan left a message on February 15, 2022:
Rich, or “ Quince,” as we at Notre Dame fondly called him, was truly one of a kind. As well as I have had the privilege of knowing him as a classmate and dear friend for over fifty years, I never knew of the many accomplishments he achieved in the legal field on behalf of the poor and less fortunate. His uniqueness was focused on doing good as described in his wonderful obituary. I can almost hear God saying to Quince as He welcomed this true Notre Dame man to Heaven, “ Well done, my son, your life on earth was well done!” RIP Quince. God bless you and your family! We love you and will miss you. Jack and Maryann Dolan
