Robert Dennis Orr, a resident of St. John, IN passed away Oct. 29, 2023. Robert was
born in Hammond, IN to Robert F. and Velda Orr. Robert graduated from Morton
High School in 1959 and graduated from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana
University, Bloomington in 1963. He went into the Army after college as a 2nd
lieutenant because of his enrollment in ROTC. He enjoyed the Army and his term as
an aide to a two star general. After his term of duty, he worked as a salesman for
Weiner Manufacturing and later for AT&T. He umpired girls’ softball and was a
coach and manager for his daughter’s team and son’s team. Robert married the
love of his life, Sharon Ames on Nov. 25, 1967. He is survived by his wife (Sharon),
daughter, Aimee Orr, and her children, Garrett, Gweneth, and Sloane; niece Nicole
Apple, and children Weston and Elyse. Predeceased, Robert Scott; sister, Sharon.
Robert was a huge I.U. supporter who loved watching and attending games. He had
a vast repertoire of jokes and kept his family laughing. Robert was honored by
Munster High School for giving 25 years of service starting with working the chains
and then announcing the varsity football games. He loved his family and will be
greatly missed. Funeral services held at Westminster Presbyterian Church in
Munster on Nov. 11th at 3pm, 4pm service, and 5pm dinner.

Sharon and Aimee,
Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of Denny. I have such fond memories working with him at Pentastar, I’m just sorry that we lost contact with him each other after I left the company. I always enjoyed working with him he made my job so easy. It was a pleasure to have him in the office, he made us laugh at times the best salesman. I miss those days and will keep those memories close to my heart. I’m so sorry that I can’t attend the wake I will be out of town. I will keep you both and the family in my thoughts and prayers. Rest easy Denny you were one in a million.

The first thing that came to mind when we heard the news about Denny was shock and sadness. Then Dotti and I remembered the fun times we had together during your many vacations to St Pete Florida and the gatherings we had at RHS Reunions in Rensselaer. All fun times and good memories that we are thankful for and will cherish. So sorry for your loss. Denny will be missed.
