My deepest condolences to Mr. Stookeys' loved ones! I was a student of his in the 80's. His love for music and the arts touched me and others. We visited Illinios' Governors (Jim Thompson) mansion for a Spring choral and band event. It was a highlight for him! Mr. Stookeys' enthusiasm was contagious, I've never forgotten his pale spring tuxedos and directorial theatrics! His memory warms my heart!❤️ RIP

By far my favorite teacher ever! Even though he used my name in English class all the time! We had a blast with him doing "Sing for Spring", rifles, and choir. Dedicated to a fault! My prayers are with you all!

Mr Stookey was a great man and a wonderful teacher. His presence in the classroom was heartfelt and the one thing I'm going to miss most of all is he made us feel like his children.

I remember the day I wrangled up my twin brother and four other boys to tryout for the 7th-8th grade choir. "There are no boys in choir," I remember being told by several. All of us made it, and all of us benefited tremendously from it. Between your vocal coaching, sharing your love of music and all things artsy, and your tutelage about life stuff when we were in our formative years, you were more than just a middle school teacher to us. You were a role model, a father figure, and a huge blessing to us in our adolescence. Thanks for so many cool memories, Mr. Stookey. I truly appreciate all that you did while leading your purpose-filled life. RIH, my good man.

I attended Memorial Jr. High and graduated in 98 and Mr. Stookey was my English teacher and also my choir director. He was amazing at what he did and I loved learning more about music through him. He had such a great impact on my life and he made going to school everyday worth it. I'll always remember and cherish the time our choir went on tour and went to see the falls in Canada. He was not only a teacher but he was all of our friends and he's going to be missed dearly! Thank you for all the wonderful memories and may you rest in peace
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
