Robert G. Stookey was welcomed into his eternal home Saturday June17, 2017 by his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He is survived by his wife Suellen (Anderson) and their two sons, Jared Robert and Alexander Jordan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Geraldine (Denton) Stookey. Funeral arrangements are being coordinated by the efficient staff of the Kish Funeral Home of Munster, Indiana. Friends, neighbours and extended family may meet with his family on Friday June 23, 2017, 2017 between the hours of 2:00- 8:00 p.m. at South Side Christian Church, 1000 Broadmoor Ave, Munster, IN. The going home service will be conducted on Saturday June 24, 2017 commencing at 10:00 a.m. at South Side Christian Church officiated by Kevin Groben of South Side Christian Church and Bob Szoke of Impact Christina Church. Interment will follow after a time of refreshment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, INRobert was a gifted educator of the English language and a lover of music. He taught in the Lansing, IL School District 158 for 35 years, beginning at Reavis Elementary School and ending his career at Memorial Jr. High School. Robert was very active in his student lives; from having his students paint the rooms’ windows to building floats, from musicals like Sing! For Spring, which he wrote to the song Commercials, that the students help write. He directed the Lansing Civic Chorus and combined them with his Jr. High Choir for a unique opportunity of joining the community and school. During Lansings’ Bicentennial, he directed a community musical “America”.He has left an impact on many a students’ lives.Robert was also very involved with the music program at South Side Christian Church by directing the youth choir and establishing a handbell choir as well as directing the Adult choir. He was very involved in the success of “HollyFest”, a dinner theatre program at the church to help tell the story of Christ’s love at Christmas. There is a hole left by Robert Stookey, but the memories are flooding into its space. He has transitioned home and we mourn his going, but will always remember him.In lieu of floral arrangements please feel free to make a contribution to a charity of your choice in his name.
