Robert “Bob” Haehnel, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026 at the age of 86.
Born on July 30, 1939, in Hammond, Indiana, to Fred and Verna Haehnel, Bob was a surprise baby, his siblings having moved out of the home before his birth. Bob entered the army from 1961 to 1964, and was honorably discharged as a Specialist. Bob worked as a draftsman for over 30 years.
Bob married Nedra Jean Nordquist on May 14, 1966, and had three children, Roy(Melissa), Rob(Karen), and Randy(Stephenie). Nedra passed away in 1976, and his children take great comfort that he will be buried next to Nedra. Bob was a loving grandfather to Kyle, Matthew, and Kaylee.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 1, 2026 from 1pm to 5pm, with a prayer service at 4:30pm at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave, Munster, IN. There will be a private burial with military honors on Monday, February 2, 2026.
