Robert (Bob) Zurad, 81, of Munster, Indiana, passed away on February 3, 2022, after a long, hard fight with liposarcoma cancer. Survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Joan (Miklusak) Zurad, and his daughters, Renee (Tim) Samels, Regina (Robert) Braasch, Ruth Nelson, and Rosanne (Keith) Margraf. He loved watching the variety of events of his six grandchildren: Kiersten (Grant) Tippet, Sydney (Danny) Davis, Julia Samels, Kaitlyn Margraf, Matthew Margraf, and Nash Nelson. Also survived by one sister, Eleanore (Zurad) Kallas. Preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Julia Zurad.

After graduating from Bishop Noll High School and St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, he became a CPA and retired from his own practice in Hessville, Indiana in 2006. He was a longtime member of St. Thomas More Church; a member of the Lion’s Club; and an avid fisherman (always looking for his mermaid) and was a fan of the White Sox and Green Bay Packers. Since we are honoring his wishes, there will be no wake or funeral services and he will be cremated.

I remember attending your wedding and your first house in Roxanna and your girls playing in the backyard there; I was just a kid then, but I remember always stopping to say ‘hi’ or waving as I would walk past and I remember my mom pointing out I had cousins all around me in the neighborhood. I thought it was cool to have family so close by. It was an honor to know Bobby, he was a good and kind soul and I hope you will be at peace with all your memories of him. My condolences to Mrs. Zurad and all the girls. I have many childhood memories of fun times at the Zurad house on Northcote, including Mr. Zurad pulling us kids on a long toboggan after a big snowfall hit our Roxana neighborhood. So very sorry to hear of his passing, may he rest in peace.

"Robert" as I would call him with a smile, was such a kind, funny, respected person to the Capps family. He would have my Dad and Brother in stitches, when they came into the office. Our sympathy to you and your family, Joan. You were his "Partner" in every aspect of his life.
