Rosemary (Dolly) Dorsey, 94, of Dyer, IN passed away on Sunday, May 10,

2020. Dolly was a graduate of George Rogers Clark High School in Hammond

and attended Indiana University, and worked as a bookkeeper at Smith Chevrolet

before becoming a full-time homemaker. She was a parishioner of Saint John

Bosco Catholic Church in Hammond.

She was thoughtful and selfless, always looking for ways to help family

members and friends. In the early 1980s, she was honored for her

volunteerism by the Telephone Pioneers of America for the installation of

Lifeline systems for homebound individuals. As hobbies, she enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears, college basketball, liked to clip coupons, and collected decorative items with a ladybug theme.

As a civic-minded community member, she worked at the Lake County Polls

as long as she was able.

Dolly was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her

sons, Thomas (Diane) Dorsey of Schererville, IN and Richard (Janis) Dorsey

of Avon, IN; daughter, Pamela Dorsey and her companion Beth Ann

Mathioudakis; grandchildren, Cale, Jaclyn, Neil, Jerri Lynn, Bill, Gregory,

Bryan, and Jennifer; 10 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Francis (Joe)

Dorsey; her son and daughter-in-law David and Helen Dorsey.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Burial will take place at Calvary

Cemetery, Portage, IN. In lieu of flowers, contributions to a Hospice of your

choice in her memory would be appreciated.
